In 1876, the Mayor of Pau, Aristide de Montpezat, an ancestor of the current prince consort of Denmark, had the town buy the Beaumont estate which belonged to the Count of Noailles. Society gatherings took place in the indoor garden of the winter palace under its magnificent glass roof. In 2001, the building was completely restored and an inauguration took place.
The building set in a park, is now Pau's Casino and Conference Centre, where events take place throught the year.
