The river Tweed and its tributaries enjoy worldwide renown for the quality of the fishing for salmon, trout and grayling. Some of the fishing is very expensive and inaccessible, much of it is within the reach of the visitor and can be enjoyed by all. There is even free fishing on the town water in Kelso and Peebles.
The mighty River Tyne has a prolific salmon run and the rivers between Tyne and Tweed offer many pleasant surprises.
If you are new to fly fishing there are several fishing guides and casting instructors in the region. Fishing tackle may be bought or hired from many shops in our region. Local angling associations have a great deal of fishing at reasonable prices.
