The Glenfinnan Station Museum has so much to offer that it is more of an experience than just a museum. There is also the Monument of Bonnie Prince Charles at the head of Loch Shiel, the National Trust Visitors Centre, and an Eagle Watch Cruise. The Museum is located in the beautiful setting of the mountains with the famous Glenfinnan Railway Viaduct dominating the view. It is now internationally acclaimed after its use in the Harry Potter films.
Although the Museum offers an insight into the history of West Highland travel, it is actually still an operational railway station. During the summer months visitors can discover the traditional ways of rail travel by experiencing the Jacobite Steam Train.
Other things to do at the museum include eating in the Dining Car, seeing the Museum Exhibition, staying in the Sleeping Car overnight, visiting the gift shop, enjoying a walk in the surrounding woodland or village, or even a taking a bike ride with one of the bicycles that are available to hire from the museum. There is something to offer for all of the family.
