La Rhune, montagne basque.
Constructed in 1924, the little antique wooden train carries you in 35 minutes to the peaks of the Rhune at a speed of 8 km per hr.
At a height of 905 mètres, La Rhune, sacred mountain of thePays Basque, offers one of the most beautiful panoramas one can imagine(classified *** in the guide Michelin). The vue takes us along the slopes of the Pyrenees from St Sebastien in Spain to Biarritz and beyond to the beaches of the Landes.
Parking:
Parking for 250 cars and 3 coaches in immediate proximite of the station also on the Ascain road. There can be insufficient space when busy and there are plans to enlarge this.
Duration of the trip:
One way: 35 minutes.
Return: 1h30 minimum.
Visitors are free to choose the train for their return. Descent by foot possible - count 2 hrs 30 min for the descent.

Shops:
at the station of departure for souvenirs and local products. At the summit there is a shop with Spanish products.
Climate:

Walks of la Rhune
There are several walks possible from the summit to allow you to see the flora and fauna of the mountain. (Guide book available at shop.) You are allowed to redescend on foot until the station of Col de Saint Ignace.
