Open all year (09:30 to 17:30 summer and 16:30 winter)
The abbey was founded in 1136 by Cistercian monks. It is maintained by Historic Scotland. It is thought to be the burial place of Robert the Bruce’s heart, marked with a commemorative carved stone plaque within the grounds.

Visitors can also visit a small museum housing a display of artefacts found within the abbey.
