Montrose Beach has three miles of golden sand, and makes the perfect spot for a family day out.
The Scurdie Ness Lighthouse is clearly visible to the south of the bay. The promenade is most pleasingly artistic with a creative use of large rounded stones and pebbles to frame the walkways which are inlaid with shapes of sea creatures – local children were involved in the planning. Adjacent is an extraordinarily well-constructed and thoughtfully planned children's playground [with an area for toddlers too] all set in white sand to cushion falls. A café [gorgeous home-made cakes and snacks!] and ice cream parlour has views of the sea and the playground. If that weren't enough there is also a Pitch and Putt course next to the Pavilion, on the other side of the playground, where bikes may be hired.
