Explore with the Wensum Discovery Tour
Join one of our expert guides on a fabulous safari into deepest Norfolk. Learn about the amazing wildlife and hidden secrets of the Wensum Valley, from mammoths to moths and from cranes to cave men. This unique tour brings Pensthorpe's long history and landscape alive.
The adventure begins when your local guide introduces you to the history of Pensthorpe in the Wensum Room. Here you will meet an animal that lived here 10,000 years ago, and be challenged to name Britain's largest and most ferocious surviving predator.
After the introduction, your guide will take you out to remote parts of the Wensum Valley in a specially-designed Landrover Safari vehicle. Taking you to ‘secret' places off the beaten track, the tour takes in wildflower meadows grazed by ancient Longhorn cattle and Norfolk Horn sheep and through calm woodland glades and quiet lakes, all teeming with wildlife.
Children can get involved filing out a ‘Spotters Sheet' as they go around the tour route looking for the answers to the questions on the sheet.
The Wensum Valley Discovery Tour runs at 11:15 am and 2:15 pm, however in peak season it can run up to four times a day dependent on demand.
