The Scarborough Sea Life Centre and Marine Sanctuary is an all-year, all-weather, constantly changing attraction, popular with tourists, marine enthusiasts and locals alike. Visitors are offered fantastic close-up views of all manner of strange and beautiful marine life, from well-known favourites penguins, otters and seals to deep-sea creatures, both local and exotic species, all accompanied by informative notices and descriptions.
Special attractions popular with children include a highly successful seal pup sanctuary and otter sanctuary, and a sea turtles' convalescence facility. The newest addition to the Sea Life Centre is the impressive 'Lair of the Octopus' exhibition, taking an in-depth look at these mysterious tentacled creatures.
Extensive support for school trips is also provided, with educational talks and demonstrations tailored to curriculum topics and age ranges, unique audiovisual and interactive learning methods, and a 'touch pool' where children can enjoy hands-on experience with live sea creatures.
