The Railway has run from Fairbourne village to Penrhyn Point since 1895. Fairbourne Railway has provided transport for visitors and locals alike from 1895.
The Rowen Indoor Nature Centre (named after Fairbourne Beach's original name Ro-Wen) was originally developed to enable visitors to see the local wildlife. In the summer the aquariums feature local fish and crustaceans many of them from the beach or from Barmouth harbour. The freshwater stream has trout, dace and sticklebacks.
