Elizabethan house with rich interiors and an important textile collection. An Elizabethan gem in the heart of industrial Lancashire. There is a unique collection of textiles and costume from all over the world, as well as paintings on loan from the National Portrait Gallery. There are extensive grounds and woodland walks. The house has close association with the 17th-century trial of the Pendle Witches. Gawthorpe Hall is financed and run by Lancashire County Council. The National Trust only maintains a small administration office and a tea-room/shop. Please note that opening times and prices are controlled by Lancashire County Council and subject to change. Please tel. to confirm. The Great Barn, an unusual aisled threshing barn with a cathedral-like atmosphere, is available for private hire and registered for weddings
