Gigha's Music Festival was a sell out success last weekend (18th July)– Jura's own Deoch 'n Dorus had the capacity crowd jumping to their ceilidh tunes on the Friday evening.
Saturday's Gala day had Alex McPhee performing on the stage and doing a fine job co-ordinating the open mic sessions and the stalls/fun/food/young firefighters demonstration and funky chicken kept everyone entertained. It was hard to stop in time for the barbeque at the boathouse!
The superb Karen Matheson took to the stage in the village hall on Saturday evening – with James Grant on guitar and Donald Shaw on keyboard and accordian they played with a truly magical touch – a performance which left the crowd baying for more.
Shooglenifty picked up the baton and fiddler Angus Grant was in tremendous form. The Shoogles will be back – as will Karen Matheson.
The Piper's Picnic on the shore on the Sunday was the perfect way to end a weekend of superlatives
Sandcastles, singing and swimming.
“The best Shooglenifty gig ever” according to one of their following fans. “The best week of my life” according to a happy camper who happened to be on Gigha! She'll be back too!
