The Glen Muick Nature Reserve is close to the Balmoral estate in Royal Deeside in Scotland. It contains the wild expanse of Loch Muick which is almost totally encircled by steep mountains. The reserve is home to many types of wildlife, including mountain hare, grouse and herds of red deer. The loch, about 8 miles south-west from Ballater, is accessible via a narrow road running through Glen Muick. This delightful road climbing up past the Falls of Muick terminates at the Loch Muick car park and visitor centre.
