Originally founded in the 11th century, Josselin chateau which overlooks the River Oust was destroyed by Henry II and later rebuilt by the Ducs de Rohan who were major players in Brittany's history. The castle is still occupied, but some of its public rooms are open for visitors and there is also a doll museum on site. The town has many half-timbered houses amongst its narrow streets and is a very attractive place to visit, with lots of cafes and small shops. There is a bustling weekly market every saturday morning.
