In 1940, the discovery of the Lascaux caves definitively launched the Dordogne area and the Vézère Valley as one of the world’s foremost Prehistory centres. Many sites are available for visit, including Lascaux II. Beyond these, Prehistory remains a living heritage in the Périgord through workshops such as for flint-hewing, stick throwing, etc.
