One of the most popular Scarborough tourist attractions, Peasholm Park offers a relaxing day in a beautiful tourist park full of extensive walking trails and local wildlife such as squirrels, ducks and wild birds.
The park surrounds a large lake which visitors can discover on a Swan Princess Launch trip or under their own steam, with a variety of rowing boats, canoes and dragon-headed pedalos available for hire. The water also plays host to a simulated naval battle between 20ft replica warships and remote-controlled aircraft twice a week throughout the summer season, and water-skiing displays one evening a week between May and August.
The central island houses a small building from which organ music is played on summer afternoons, and a waterfall which is lit up in the evenings. Local bands provide Sunday concerts, often free of charge, from the bandstand on the lake. An 18-hole pitch-and-putt and a 12-hole putting green are also available, as well as two cafés serving a selection of sandwiches, hot meals and hot and cold drinks.
