On a strip of land running for 9 miles around the Western end of Rutland Water, the reserve is a sssi, spa and Ramsar site. It runs courses, a range of children’s activities and an extensive education programme.
Open all year, this is the ideal location to relax in natural beauty, enjoy a country walk and get closer to nature on one of Europe’s top reserves.
Entry will cost you a mere £4.00 for the day and is from the two visitor centres, one at Egleton and one at Lyndon, both have educational interpretation rooms that are open to the public and sell a range of natural history books, gifts wild bird food and an assortment of snacks and drinks to refuel with after your walk.
For people with limited mobility there is the opportunity to use a buggy (prior booking essential) and the majority of the hides have wheelchair access. With friendly, knowledgeable staff and volunteers on hand even a novice will be able identify what they have seen.
