Sewerby Hall is a fine Georgian house dating back to the 1700s, set in 50 acres of immaculately tended gardens and parkland overlooking Bridlington Bay.
The Hall contains various period rooms - The Swinton Room, Halifax Room and Orangery - all expertly restored and decorated in the early 1990s, available for functions and conferences such as tea dances and concerts. On the first floor is the Amy Johnson room, housing a collection of memoriabilia dedicated to the local heroine and her pioneering 19-day long-distance solo flight to Darwin, Australia.
Visitors can discover the Gardens at their leisure, or follow the Woodland Trail, a gentle route through the woodland area of the grounds with its lush foliage and abundant local wildlife. In summer, the front lawn hosts a range of activities such as mediaeval jousting, Morris Minor rallies and summer fayres. The grounds also include two magnificent walled gardens, the Rose Garden and Old English Garden.
Family activities includea children's play area and a zoo with walk-through aviary, where children can meet beautiful and unusual animals such as llamas, pygmy goats, peacocks and mandarin ducks, as well as old favourites such as Shetland ponies, monkeys and Bennets wallabies. A putting green is also available.
