A tribute to Hero’s, Past Present and Future,
Swanage Armed Forces Weekend 19th 20th June 2010
Swanage Veterans are delighted to announce Swanage Armed Forces Weekend June 19th and 20th 2010. After the success of recent years, the event is now growing into a firm fixture on the south coast, drawing visitors from far and wide of all ages.
The town will throw itself in to the spirit of things, with window displays, parades, war time vehicles, dance demos, food and music. Supported by the mod, the event will celebrate British Armed Forces past and present and future.
The Heritage centre are transforming the museum with archive photographs, war time exhibits such as food tins, ration cards etc, giving children a flavour of the era.
Organizers hope this event as the programme develops, will be bigger and better than ever, with the highlight of the weekend being a re-creation of 1940’s style sea front street party. On offer will be tea, home made cakes and Spam sandwiches, giving a real flavour of times past. Complementing the ambience, will be live music a swing band and Lindy Hop dancing.
