Wastwater was voted "Britains favourite view" in a 2007 television survey and any visitor there would have to agree. Its enchanting beauty captivates the mind.
It is a remote and unspoilt wilderness owned by the National Trust, and is overlooked by England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
On the south-east side of the lake are the Screes, which rise from the lake almost 200 feet. Wastwater is 3 miles long and 258 feet deep, making it the deepest lake in England.
