Ben Wyvis Holiday Lodges in the Scottish Highlands Family friendly Pet/Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage for romantic breaks in Strathpeffer, The Highlands, Scotland

2 delightful self-catering chalets set in stunning Highland scenery; plenty of attractions on the doorstep: Inverness offers lots for adrenaline junkies; walking and cycling routes abound for those in need of a quiet retreat. Pet and family friendly

Ben Wyvis Lodges offers two quiet woodland retreats, ideal for dogs, families, walkers and cyclists but with plenty of attractions within easy reach for the perfect holiday combination of peace and action.

Accommodation

Each Lodge is comfortably furnished and constantly updated; each sleeps 4 people, with one double bedroom and one twin bedded room, open plan living area, bathroom and utility room. The living area comprises a large but cosy lounge providing television with digital freeview and dvd player and kitchenette with pine dining table. French doors lead to a covered balcony which overlooks part of the surrounding Forestry Commission woodland, garden furniture is provided.

A private car park is provided, although direct car access to each lodge is not possible.

Location and things to do and see

The village of Strathpeffer nestles in the foothills of Ben Wyvis in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Our lodges are a mile from the village in a beautiful woodland setting but only a 20 minute drive from Inverness and its world famous Loch.

We can offer a fantastic mix of quirky local history, walking, cycling and water sports, all within twenty minutes of this peaceful holiday retreat.

Debunk the weather myth!

Visitors do not need to fear the weather; despite popular myth, the Inverness area is one of the driest in Scotland with an annual rainfall of only 900mm per year – half that of Fort William, which is less than two hours drive away. May and June are perhaps the most beautiful times of year in the Highlands; the sun can shine until ten o’clock at night this far north.

The locally named ‘Black Isle’ is neither black nor an island but a lovely peninsular or rolling farmland – with plenty to explore for foodies and beer and whiskey lovers. Whiskey distilleries offer plenty for visitors and there are an increasing number of delightfully unique food shops and coffee stops springing up.

Adrenaline Junkie?

If you are after a more active holiday then we can offer anything from a woodland walk to the more ambitious challenge of a stiff but rewarding climb up our name-sake – Ben Wyvis, our very own Munro. There are beautiful local lochs and waterfalls within a very short distance and the local town of Dingwall, a ten minute drive away, provides everything you will need for your excursions.

If you are happy to spend time in the car then the whole of Scotland is your oyster! A train journey and short ferry ride to the Isle of Skye provides truly breathtaking scenery, Loch Ness is still full of adventure and mystery and even John O’Groats is within reach.

Fancy yourself a wildlife photographer?

Catch the dolphins from Chanonry Point on the Murray Firth, visit the rspb reserve at Loch Garten, walk through Blackmuir Wood and climb Knocfarrel to watch the buzzards and Red Kites souring overhead or simply spend the morning watching red squirrels and a fantastic array of birdlife on the balcony of one of our Lodges.

If you are after local culture then Strathpeffer itself offers gems of local history. From the Victorian obsession with spas in the rejuvenated spa rooms to local history trails going back to pictish times, we can satisfy your tastes within walking distance of the lodges. We even have our very own toy museum nestling alongside a delightful fair-trade shop and coffee room at the renovated train station.
