Flint Luxury Pet Friendly Self-Catering Cottage Gay Friendly Pet/Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage for romantic breaks in Blandford Forum, Dorset, England
Stylish, romantic country bolthole for grown-ups deep in the Dorset countryside. Sleeps 2. Super-king bedroom with countryside views. Private walled courtyard with outdoor bateau bath.
Welcome to Flint, our new self-catering cottage for two. A secluded and romantic country retreat for grown-ups wanting to escape from the daily grind to the peace and utter tranquillity of the Dorset countryside.
In a stylishly converted stable building, Flint is part of the old Victorian farm courtyard with views that stretch out over the surrounding farmland and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Come in to the fully equipped kitchen. There's a larder cupboard with all the basics including eggs from the orchard chickens, fresh bread and home-made cake and preserves. If you don't feel like cooking, you can order a DIY farmhouse breakfast pack from Sarah (£8 per person) or a two course home-cooked supper (£10 per person) delivered to your door. Many of the ingredients are sourced from the organic farm itself.
A snug sitting room with cosy sofa, 32" smart TV and wood-burner is the perfect place to curl up after a long walk. From the sitting room, you have access to your own private walled courtyard where you can enjoy an outdoor soak in the bateau bath by candlelight. The inside-outside terrace has an outdoor wood burner so you can relax outside all your round. We provide rugs and plenty of candles! From the first floor bedroom and ensuite shower room, guests enjoy views over the ornamental walled gardens. Cows and sheep graze the paddocks outside your window. The super-king hypnos bed is also available as a twin.
Children and pets
In keeping with Launceston Farm B&B, Flint is for adults only. The focus for us is on creating a beautiful and romantic country retreat for grown-ups; frazzled parents included! You are however, more than welcome to bring your dog. We charge an additional £25 to cover cleaning costs.
Explore the area
There is plenty to do from your door-step so leave the car behind and explore the stunning countryside by foot or by bike (available to borrow). Sarah has put together some handy circular walking routes, all with maps and easy to follow notes all of which take in a local pub. We are within easy reach of the market towns of Shaftesbury, Salisbury, Sherborne and Wimborne if delis and boutiques are calling. Poole Harbour - part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and the start of the South West Coast Path is only half and hour from the farm. Cultural delights include National Trust properties at Stourhead Gardens and Kingston Lacy estate as well as Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge.
The award-winning local pub - the Langton Arms - is a five minute walk into the village. We recommend booking in advance for a Friday or Saturday night. Torches are provided for the walk home. Dorset is foodie heaven. From country pubs, delis and farm shops, to top-end restaurants and cafes we are always happy to recommend places and have plenty of suggestions for guests in our information pack.
