Bluebell Cottage Langham Nr Blakeney North Norfolk Family friendly Pet/Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage for romantic breaks in near Holt, Norfolk, England
Pretty Norfolk country cottage. Comfortable, cosy and very well furnished accommodation. Kitchen, dining room, sitting room, two bedrooms [one double, one twin], bathroom with shower, downstairs cloakroom, off road parking, garden. Dog friendly.
Bluebell Cottage is a traditional brick and flint end of terrace cottage. It is situated in the charming village of Langham, which is two miles from the coast. Blakeney, Morston and Binham are nearby villages. The delightful Georgian town of Holt is 5 miles away and Wells-Next-The-Sea is 7 miles.
The cottage has been modernised, yet still retains period charm. There is antique furniture in most rooms and visitors tell us that they find the cottage extremely well equipped, cosy and comfortable. There is off road parking and a small courtyard garden to the rear. Visitors may also use our larger garden which just beyond the driveway.
The cottage has a well equipped kitchen, with a hob, cooker, dishwasher, washer / drier, fridge and freezer. The cupboards contain all you need in terms of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. There is a downstairs cloakroom with loo and wash hand basin. The dining room is comfortable and makes an excellent day room too. The sitting room has an open fire and a TV and dvd player. Antique furniture and a leather suite combine to make this a very comfortable and cosy room.
The stairs are quite steep and we have a handrail either side. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. Both have antique furniture and modern, comfortable beds. One room has a double bed and the other has two singles. There is a tiny third bedroom, which we use for storage. The bathroom has recently been modernised. There is a loo, wash hand basin, bath and shower cubicle with a power shower.
There is a small enclosed courtyard garden at the rear of the cottage. A picnic bench and barbecue is supplied. This garden is 'dog proof' [although some persistent terriers may find escape routes!]. A drive separates the cottage from our parking area and large garden. There is ample off road parking for two cars. You are welcome to use the large garden and garden seats and table are provided. Our neighbour grows veg in part of this area, so we ask that you respect Ronnie's veggies and supervise dogs and children at all times. The garden is not enclosed and there are garden hazards.
The cottage has electric central heating. There is free broadband. Mobile phone signal is extremely poor [welcome to Norfolk!]. There is a landline for local calls and emergency use.
The cottage is brilliant for adults. We also welcome families, but emphasise that it is not suitable for very young children. There are sash windows with no restraints, very old furniture and quite steep stairs. Unfortunately, due to the age of the property, it is not suitable for disabled persons. Please contact us if you'd like further details.
We welcome one [small to middle sized] well behaved dog. Dogs are not allowed upstairs under any circumstances, nor are they allowed on the furniture. Dogs must not be left in the cottage on their own and must sleep in the kitchen at night. We provide a 'stairgate' between the kitchen and dining room for this purpose.
The Bluebell pub in the village is due to reopen in February 2017 [Yippeee!]. The new owners promise a warm welcome, good beer and a varied menu. A new hotel, 'The Harper', is opening in Langham during the summer of 2017. The bar and restaurant will be open to non-residents. There also is a wealth of excellent local pubs, gastro pubs and restaurants and fabulous tea rooms in the immediate area. We provide lots of information about local eateries in the cottage.
The North Norfolk coast [and inland] is a haven for walkers, cyclists, bird watchers, foodies and those seeking peace, quiet and relaxation. Sea, marsh, coastal paths, downs, dunes and endless sands and skies, as well as interesting and attractive local towns and villages, provide the backdrop for a wonderful holiday. Again, we provide lots of information regarding 'things to do' in the cottage.
Bluebell Cottage has been in our family for nearly a hundred years. Andrew's grandmother ran the village pub 'The Bluebell' and her tenure ended the family's association with the pub, again lasting over a hundred years, The pub is under new management and is gaining a great reputation, we are assured that 'The Harper' will welcome our guests.
