Welcome to our Self Catering Gite in Brittany
An ancient Breton longere comprehensively renovated in 2005. Now providing comfortable well equipped year round vacation accommodation suitable for couples, groups of friends or families with older children. Featuring exposed oak beams downstairs with A-frames and vaulted ceilings upstairs and having retained the original stone arched doorway this holiday cottage looks traditional outside but has plenty of modern comforts inside.
The interior layout has been designed to provide good communal living space but give each couple their own privacy. The upstairs bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) each have an ensuite shower room and are positioned opposite each other off the galleried landing; whilst downstairs at the rear of the house is a further double bedroom with french doors and an adjacent shower room, providing an ideal solution for any guests wishing to avoid stairs (or parents wanting a room away from the rest of the family). All the bedrooms have plenty of storage and hanging space, bedside units, mirrors and chairs.
There are french doors from both the ground floor bedroom and the dual aspect living room out onto the large terrace which has magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. The spacious living room also features an efficient wood burning stove, TV (with UK free-to air channels), DVD player, comfy sofas, an extendable dining table and 6 chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped to cater for year round guests and has a lovely sunny window seat to relax in.
Modern electric panel heaters are fitted throughout, duvets are provided in weights appropropriate to the season and fans are available if required in hot weather. There is a large capacity washing machine and airing rack, with a rotary dryer outside.
Outside the Longere
On the patio hardwood furniture and a built-in barbeque provide a relaxing additional dining area where the wonderful sunsets over the forest can be enjoyed with a glass of wine or the local cider, the plentiful birdlife can be appreciated (including green and spotted woodpeckers, common and honey buzzards, kestrals, wood pigeons...) and stars gazed at in the unpolluted night sky. The terrace opens onto a large paddock which has apple, oak & nut trees on its boundaries.
Please note as the perimeter of the paddock is not fenced, and there is a galleried landing inside, we do not consider this holiday house suitable for families with young children.
There is plenty of on site parking and a secure storeroom is available for guests to keep cycles, golf club, walking boots etc in.
Our Location
Our vacation rental properties are located at La Fontaine Rouillée, near the small market town of Plessala in Brittany. This beautiful and tranquil part of Brittany which offers many options for sight seeing, sport, touring or relaxing and is easily accessible from the western channel ports and Brittany's 4 international airports.
For guests using the longere as a touring base the stunning north coast beaches overlooked by international standard golf courses, inland Lake Guerledan with its range of fishing and watersports and the medieval cities of Dinan or Josselin can be reached in 30-40 minutes.

£90 / 100€ per week under-occupancy discount available all year round for couples using just the ground floor bedroom and shower room plus living accommodation.
Short breaks available September to June (minimum 3 nights).
Payment is accepted in either sterling or euros by bank transfer.
