Local information:
Within a 10 mile drive are some of the most spectacular beaches in the Highlands. However you may also wish to visit the following:
- Aultbea: The local village is approximately 1 mile away with a general store, Post Office, Craft Shop, Coffee shop, Butchers, Bakers, and two hotels.
- Laide: Only 3 miles north of Aultbea with a petrol station, Post Office, and general store. The road to the left of the Post Office leads to Mellon Udrigle beach
- Poolewe: 6 miles south where you will find the famous Inverewe Gardens and a local swimming pool. There are also two hotels, a craft and coffee shop, Post Office and general store.
- Gairloch: 12 miles south is the largest of the villages with all the usual amenities including a museum, bank, tourist office, and a 9 hole golf course. Boat trips are available from the pier (which also cater for fishing). There are also boat trips to the Isle of Skye.
- Ullapool: Some 44 miles to the north of Aultbea is a very nice place to visit, with a fery terminal to the Outer Hebrides.
- Kinlochewe: Some 30 miles to the south with the well known Beinn Eighe nature reserve, and some of the most remote mountain walking in Britain.
