Welcome to Bassenthwaite Hall Farm, our farmhouse in Bassenthwaite, at the foot of Skiddaw, near Keswick in the beautiful Lake District. This excellent Bed & Breakfast accommodation is fully modernised whilst retaining its olde worlde character, The house has many antiques, and pretty, interesting, china pieces. Our main claim to fame are our "Indian Runner ducks" which wander freely too and fro from farm to stream. They cause much interest, especially the newly hatched ducklings, which we hatch out periodically. Wwe also have a herd of limousin cattle, so there is often a new-born calf around to see.

Bassenthwaite Hall Farm is a lovely 17th Century Farmhouse which is fully modernised whilst retaining its olde worlde character. A charming lounge/dining room furnished with antiques is available for guests use any time. Delightful bedrooms with individual period furnishings. Hand basin in rooms. 2 Bathrooms close by. Tea and coffee making facilities. Our annexed accommodation has en-suite facilties and is close to the farmhouse.
Our Locationand Local Area
The small village of Bassenthwaite is 2 miles from the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake (the only official 'Lake' in the Lake District!) and 2 miles from the foot of Skiddaw, the 4th highest mountain in the Lake District. Bassenthwaite has several working farms and throughout the year animals can be seen in the fields around the village.
The Sun Inn pub serving bar meals is located in the heart of the village. A short walk or drive away is a small shop on a caravan park selling general supplies (open April to October).
The popular Lake District market town of Keswick, on the shores of Derwent Water, and Cockermouth, the town of William Wordsworth's family home, are only 15 minutes away. Nearby is the famous Osprey viewpoint and also Mirehouse Historic House and Gardens with adventure playground, and Trotters' World of Animals.
Bassenthwaite is an ideal location for exploring all of the Lake District and the Cumbrian countryside including the Solway Coast, the historic border city of Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall and the lovely Eden Valley.
There are regular bus services to Keswick, Cockermouth and Penrith (nearest train station) and infrequent services to Carlisle.
