Welcome to Braesteads Farm B&B In Cumbria
Our B&B is located one mile from the shores of Ullswater, and just half an hour's drive from Windermere and Bowness, Braesteads Farm is a great base for your trip to the Lake District. The famous trek up to Helvellyn through the 'hole in the wall' is just behind us and you can look out at St Sunday over breakfast! Alfred Wainwrights 'Coast to Coast' walk from St Bees's to Robinhoods Bay goes down our valley, so whether you're a fully kitted out mountain goat, or just want an easy stroll with fantastic views the possibilites are endless.
We have two lovely double rooms available for bed and breakfast each with there own bathrooms (fab showers/bath), breakfast in served in our dining room and our guests also have the use of our gorgeous little 'snug' with comfy chairs, a log burner, loads of books/maps and Sky TV.
Braesteads farm is a working fell farm. Our hefted flock of swaledale sheep roam on the peaks of Helvellyn and St Sunday as they have done for generations. We also have a herd of pedigree Simmental cattle and a small herd of Belted Galloways. To keep us all in order we have six working sheep dogs who are the most valued machines on the farm, particularly when it comes to gathering the sheep in off Striding Edge! Also some hens who scratch around in the woods and provide us with great eggs for breakfast.
