Orchard Barn
Cosy and comfortable, the stone barn overlooks the old orchard and original kitchen garden. Double French doors open onto an enclosed patio with garden furniture and barbeque. Inside high vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, antique oak floors and a log/coal burning stove create warmth and character. A compact open plan kitchen with a window to the garden includes granite worktops and every modern appliance. The separate bathroom has a large shower and includes shaver point and heated towel rail. Ideal for couple or family with a child/baby.
Brokenhaugh Lodge
Architecturally interesting, the 1890’s sandstone house exudes warmth and comfort. The spacious lounge, comfortably seating 9, features an old inglenook fireplace with log burner. Baskets with logs in winter and fresh flowers in summer are provided. A separate dining room leads down to a bespoke kitchen creating an open, gregarious eating area. An enclosed stone courtyard with barbeque offers alfresco dining. The original inner staircase leads to 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a super kingsize bed, dressing room, LCD TV and luxurious ensuite with large bath and separate shower, heated towel rails and woodland views. The second bedroom with high vaulted ceilings and exposed beams has a kingsize bed, LCD TV and ensuite with bath. The twin and single bedrooms enjoy the use of a shower/wetroom with w.c an w.h.b. All bedrooms have stunning views of open countryside.
Location
Hadrian's Wall and the new National Trail - a coast to coast footpath - is a mere 10 minutes drive and, nearby, to the south, is the boundary of the North Pennines upland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This designated AONB spills over into County Durham, home to the World Heritage Site of Durham Cathedral and Castle, only an hour's drive from our estate.
Other day trips can be made to the Lake District, Scotland, Borders, and the Heritage Coast of Northumberland.
