The cottage is a very original and cosy little 17th Century soft red brick building in a Regency Row attached to 2 small brick barns and a small rambling Regency house. This cluster of buildings is surrounded by farmed countryside and Nature Reserves.
The entrance is though an old cobbled courtyard past the original working water pump and in through the cottage glazed doors.
The Cottage has a small well equipped modern kitchen and next door a nicely fitted out bathroom with a Victoria 'ball & claw' bath.
The cosy dinning area leads off the small hall with an open winding staircase leading up to the twin bedroom. The stairs winding up into the bedroom give away the age of the building and people with mobility problems should consider this before booking this cottage - for the able bodied it is just another bit of the lovely character of Cissy's Cottage. The romantic master double bedroom is accessed through the twin bedroom.
Downstairs the floors are traditional Suffolk White bricks and there is a charming little wooden panelled sitting room with an original bake oven hidden behind one panel next to the working 1800's cooking range - not needed for cooking on - but lovely to use as a fireplace.
You can walk straight out of this room through the glazed cottage doors into the sunny courtyard. At the end of the courtyard is the farm gate to a stunning private nature reserve which you can walk straight into.
There are maps provided so you can explore the reserve and link up to the national coastal nature reserves and lakes areas.
The seaside at Aldeburgh is a 7 min drive away and there are unique walks from there along the Orford Ness Nature Reserve or beside the salt lakes to Thorpeness. Aldeburgh is a big Arts Centre with many excellent shops and restaurants and a pretty marina / harbour.
Well behaved pets are always welcomed and no charge is made for them - please bring suitable bedding and towels.
All prices include vat, towels, soap, linen, heating, a generous ‘Proper English Breakfast’ welcome basket , a bucket of coal and packet of firelighter.
The cottage is a complete little home and facilities include heating, TV, DVD/Video players, CD player and CD’s, DVD’s tapes, books, games and a fully equipped kitchen including a microwave. Cots and high chairs are available on request.
This is a special cottage situated in a very interesting coastal area ideal for guests who like to enjoy the countryside.
