La Belle Maison is a charming traditional Breton holiday cottage, approached through its own garden via a short flight of steps opening into a central hallway with the accommodation laid out on one level.
Right of the hall is a spacious dual aspect kitchen-dining room recently updated with fitted units in the kitchen area, whilst the traditional terracotta floor tiles and shuttered windows maintain the building's original character. The dining area has table & chairs, an armchair and storage unit housing crockery and glassware plus a collection of local maps and information.
To the left of the hall is a relaxing sitting room with squishy suite, pouffe, tables, stocked bookcase, a selection of board games and CDs, a DVD player and TV receiving UK free-to-air programs. There is an efficient wood burning stove with top-box for warming plates or mulling wine. The original chestnut parquet floor has been retained, whilst a central carpet square and curtains at the large shuttered window overlooking the garden add to the cosy feel of the room.
The two bedrooms are either side of the hall; the double bedroom faces west and has lovely views across to the distant forest, where the sunsets are magnificent. The twin bedroom opposite benefits from the morning sun rising over neighbouring fields. As well as beds, each room is furnished with a wardrobe, chest of drawers, mirror, chair, bedside cabinets and lamps, both rooms have plenty of space for a travel cot. The floors are chestnut parquet with scatter rugs; there are pictures on the walls and curtains at the windows as well as the working shutters. Bed linen is supplied with a choice of duvet weights to suit the season. At the end of the hallway is a large fully tiled shower room with towel radiator and storage unit.
At lower ground floor level is a laundry area with washing machine and clothes airer, and store room for guests to keep cycles, golf clubs, walking boots etc. There is a rotary dryer in a corner of the garden. Plenty of on-site parking is available.
The gite has a south-west facing, mature, enclosed garden with BBQ and hardwood furniture for relaxing outdoor dining; there is plenty in the immediate area to occupy walkers, cyclists, anglers, riders, bird-watchers or anyone who enjoys history & meandering around small medieval towns or sampling the local produce at markets.
For guests seeking a self catering vacation rental for a touring base this cottage is situated in an ideal location; the stunning north coast beaches overlooked by international standard golf courses, inland Lake Guerledan with a range of fishing and watersports and the ancient cities of Dinan and Josselin can be reached in around 30-40 minutes.
