Welcome to Criag Highland Farm, Highland self catering cottages. We have a range of self catering cottages and lodges sleeping from 2, 4 and 6 people in a beautiful beach and loch side location on a working farm.
We offer short stay off season breaks and weekly rents in high season in stone built cottages or timber lodges.
Beach Cottage: There is a cottage on the beach which sleeps 4 adults and 2 children at one end and 2 adults in the other part. Both open directly from their kitchen through a stable door to the beach which is a corral strand at low tides and a grassy picnic area all year round.
Our Thatch cottage has outstanding views over the loch towards Applecross and is visited often by pine martens (Britains' rarest mammal!). Sleeping 4 plus cot in twin and double bedrooms it has a shower room and a living room/kitchen with cosy woodburning stove.
Timber Lodges: The lodges sleep 2 or 6 and form a semi circle round the bay looking at the island from differing angles so no one feels encroached or overlooked by anyone else. A 2 minute walk takes you to the beach. Lodges have lovely views and are comfortable and warm with balconies to relax on.
The Farm: The farm is a 17 acre holding set aside for the preservation of Rare Breeds of domestic animals and fowl. You will see ancient and rare breeds of Scottish sheep traditional species of poultry and water fowl, rabbits, outdoor pigs and piglets, llama and goats, geese, ducks and baby chicks. Enjoy feeding and getting closer than you ever dreamed to these magical animals. We have highland cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, llamas, ponies, donkeys, peafowl, rabbits etc on the farm and children spend many an hour feeding and petting them.
The Local Area
Locally there are trips to Applecross, over the highest paved road in Britain, Glenelg and of course Skye accessed over the bridge only 10 minute drive away.
The local village of Plockton, in Ross-shire, one of the prettiest in the highlands, is a few minutes drive away or you can take the woodland path which skirts the coastline. Good local restraunts, pubs etc and the famouse Seal trips are to be found there.
We do have mud, midges and mice and sometimes dreadfull weather but be brave and come and enjoy the farm which can also be nothing short of paradise!! See us in the sunshine and you will never want to leave.
