Eastside is a 3000 acre working family sheep farm run by Alastair and Susan Cowan. It is nestled in amongst the spectacular hills and scenery of the Pentland Hills Regional Park. The 18th century farm-steading has been imaginatively converted into three individual, character filled cottages adjacent to each other around the historical farmyard. With stunning views out onto the surrounding hills they combine an old-world rural charm with all the modern conveniences of luxury 21st Century living.
All cottages are provided with ample car parking and each has its own delightful private garden bounded by traditional dry-stone walls.
Here you will unwind in a comfortable, spacious home from home in the hills, luxuriate by a blazing log fire as well as marveling at the magnificent views.
Enjoy all the benefits of fresh air, beautiful surroundings, wildlife and country living but still only a 10 minute drive from Edinburgh.
Eastside Byre is entered through a traditional stone archway from the farmyard. A flag-stone corridor leads to the well equipped kitchen / dining room. The bright and spacious room has particular character, charm and style with exposed beams and double height ceiling. Four steps down from the dining area are the 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin. The double bedroom has an ensuite shower room with wash hand basin and toilet. There is also a bathroom on this lower level, again complete with wash hand basin and toilet. Returning to the dining room, an ash wood staircase leads to the upstairs sitting room which has spectacular views. This is a character filled room with exposed beams and a stone hearth with wood burning stove. There is also the option of accommodating 2 extra people up here on a comfortable double sofa bed. There is luxurious under-floor heating throughout the cottage and also a handy utility room with toilet, Belfast sink and washer / dryer machine.
N.B. Unlike many self-catering cottages there are no hidden extras! Logs and electricity are included in the price as well as bed linen and towels.
News: As from January we are greener than ever with our very own 15 KW windmill to power all the cottages.
