St Fillans is a magical village, strung out along the north-eastern shore of Loch Earn, with three hotels, boat launching or hire;for sailing and water-skiing, a shop and a nine-hole golf course. There is immediate access for walking up to Glen Tarken and beyond, with the whole of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to the south and west.
Fortrenn is accessed from the private estate road into the glen, and commands astounding views to the south over the loch. The front garden boasts a charming summer house with table and chairs, with the option of an awning to keep even the bbq chef out of the powerful Perthshire sunshine (or rain!). Dog owners will find a secure area outside the kitchen door, and the front garden down below is also fenced. As well as central heating, there are open fires in the lounge and the dining room, and in the winter the Aga can be lit, making the kitchen the hub of the house.
St Fillans is so central that Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Perth, Fort William and Oban are all within one and a half hours drive . The circle includes Loch Rannoch, Loch Tay and Loch Lomond (as if Loch Earn isn’t enough!), as well as the townships of Crieff, Aberfeldy and Killin. This was our home until recently and we miss both the house and the outlook. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular .
