Welcome to our Cottage in the Lake District
Our cottage is situated in Cockermouth, a lively market town in the northern Lake District. Our cottage is a perfect base for exploring the northern part of the National Park, with the Lorton Valley, Buttermere Fells, Crummock Water, Ullswater and the Keswick area, all within easy driving distance.
Although it appears small, the cottage is spacious, being made up of what were originally two separate houses joined together. It sleeps six comfortably in 3 bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen/dining room and a comfortable lounge with its original open fireplace.
Entering from the cobbled forecourt, where there is parking for one car, you are in the lounge. This is comfortably furnished, and has a log-effect gas fire set into the original open hearth. With some antique oak tables and joynt stool, and exposed beams, it has a very cottagy feel. Then up a short stair to the dining room with its farmhouse table and well-equipped kitchen. The up another couple of steps to the master bedroom. Double bed, exposed beams and original Georgian panelling. En-suite bathroom. There is also a separate w/c and shower room. Up another short flight to the double bedroom and twin bedroom.
The cottage has fitted carpet throughout, so that it is always warm and comfortable. There is a good selection of books and games.
The shops are just a 5 minute walk away, and the Swan Inn is just across the road - so no need to take your car!
