Welcome to Le Cougou, our Large Self Catering Holiday Villa in Central France
Nestled in the rural area between the two villages of Genouille and Graçay, our very comfortable Holiday home is a traditional French Longhouse (Longère), restored excellently in the traditional style. Our Longère, named La Coudre, can sleep up to six. Three large double bedrooms are all on the first floor, roofed by fantastic beamed eaves. Set in this idyllic area of rural France there are local markets, restaurants, shops and cafes to give you a real taste of traditional French life. The area is bountiful in rich history, beautiful chateaux, medieval cities, rivers and fishing lakes, so there is something for everyone in this idyllic location.

Our Longère, named La Coudre, can sleep up to 10 people. Three large double bedrooms are all on the first floor, roofed by fantastic beamed eaves. Set in this idyllic area of rural France there are local markets, restaurants, shops and cafes to give you a real taste of traditional French life. The area is bountiful in rich history, beautiful chateaux, medieval cities, rivers and fishing lakes, so there is something for everyone in this idyllic location.
The dining room opens out from the living room. A massive oak traditional ‘monastery’ table and seating comfortably seats up to 14. The attractive staircase leads up from here to the first floor.
The dining room leads to a large, well equipped kitchen which is south facing , giving views over the patio, garden and open countryside beyond. Kitchen equipment includes a 6 burner gas cooker and hood, double sink/drainer, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave and ample work surface and storage. The kitchen door leads out to the south facing gravelled patio area with outside dining table, chairs and sun parasol. There is also a BBQ.
The Longere has three large double bedrooms all under the beamed eaves. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, wardrobe and space for a cot as does Bedroom 2 which features a stunning antique French double bed. This bedroom also has its own washbasin and space for a further single bed. Bedroom 3 is primarily for the children or teenagers of the party and has space for up to four single beds with chest of drawers and wardrobe. This room is adaptable as a third double bedroom for adults. All rooms have been redecorated and furnished recently with a traditional French theme.
The bathroom and separate WC are also upstairs. The bath has a power shower over the bath. Both the bathroom and the WC have washbasins.
A tenth (single) bed can be set on the spacious landing area as required.
Our Rural Location in Central France
Situated in the beautiful central region of France, there are many things to do in the area around our Holiday home. In the nearest towns there are local markets, restaurants, shops and cafés, and also facilities for fishing, walking, cycling, horse riding, tennis, golf and canoeing among other things. Near the Loire valley, our holiday home is in an area renowned for its natural beauty. The area has even been the home of various Kings since the 10th century, which has resulted in the Loire Valley being kept as pristine and natural as possible. Many works of art and literature have been created in this spectacular region, as well as extraordinary works of architecture and magnificent landscaping. Our location gives guests easy access for days out to ZooParc Beauval, Futuroscope, Valencay, Tours, Blois, the Brenne National Parc, Lac Eguzon and world famous châteaux. There is also the beautiful city of Orléans, which has a strong association with Saint Joan of Arc, the famous leader of the French army in the Hundred Years war. There are also many local wines to taste in Anjou, Coteaux du Layon, Saumur, Touraine, Bourgueil, Vouvray, Pouilly Fumé and Sancerre.
