Welcome to our Guest House in the Lake District
Josette and Mark Bayley welcome you to their home, Lane Head Farm Country Guest House. A marvellous place to relax and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Lake District National Park. Located in the northern Lake District just 10 minutes drive from Keswick and Ullswater, it is a great base to explore from. The Lake District National Park is only 40 miles long and 33 miles wide so no where is far from our front door.
A warm welcome awaits you upon your arrival at this old farmhouse. Whether you’ve come from near or far you’ll quickly relax into the tranquillity and peacefulness that surrounds you. Feel free to borrow magazines, books and walk guides from the lounge and take them back to your room if you prefer. If you’re lucky you may even glimpse our resident red squirrel on one of the feeders or playing on the lawn. We have a number of different bird feeders as well which attract Greater Spotted Woodpeckers, Siskins and Blue Tits to name a few.
After a day exploring the towns and fells in and around the Lake District you can be sure to return to a freshly cooked 2 or 3 course dinner. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the lounge while you browse the wine list and meet new friends. After dinner tea and coffee can be served in the lounge or you may prefer to sample one of our malt whiskeys, a Cognac or an Armagnac.
The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 14 people with 1 twin room, 4 double rooms and 2 four poster rooms. All our rooms have 20in or 22in LCD flat screen TV’s, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities (fair-trade or ethically sourced), ipod radio alarm clocks, hairdryers, complimentary toiletries and complimentary mineral water on day of arrival. In addition our four poster bedrooms are larger in size and complimentary mineral water daily.
Our informal dining room is transformed in the evening to provide the perfect setting for our rustic farmhouse cuisine. After a pre-dinner drink in the lounge you will be shown through to your table for your 2 or 3 course dinner. Your chosen wine will be awaiting your arrival in the dining room. If you have room left you can finish your meal with a complimentary tea or coffee either in the dining room or lounge. For those that like an after dinner tipple we have a selection of malt whiskeys, a Cognac and an Armagnac for you to sample along with a selection of local beers.
All our meals are freshly cooked using fresh ingredients. For this reason we do need to know in advance if our guests are dining with us. The last time to order dinner is 10am. Our menu changes daily and as we offer 2 choices for each course we do try to tailor it to our guest’s likes and dislikes where possible. For more information about our menu please feel free to contact us.
