Welcome to Loft Holiday Cottages, our beautiful holiday cottages in Bassenthwaite, at the foot of Skiddaw, near Keswick in the beautiful Lake District. These excellent self-catering accommodation properties are called Hall Farm Cottage (Jemima Puddle Duck’s Cottage!) and The Loft (Rebecca Puddle Ducks Cottage!) and sleep up to 5 and up to 3 respectively.

Hall Farm Cottage
Hall Farm Cottage provides self-catering accommodation for up to 5 people in 2 bedrooms. This popular cottage is tucked in the corner of the courtyard adjacent to the farm. From the front door a narrow lane leads to the stream. At the back door the friendly farm dogs and chickens often call for tit bits! You can also watch the ducks waddle past in single file to the farmyard.
The property has a spacious lounge/diner, with real log fire in local stone feature fireplace and TV/video/DVD player, and a small fitted kitchen including dishwasher oven and microwave. There are also two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a double and single bed, and a large bathroom with shower over bath.
The Loft
Hall Farm Cottage provides self-catering accommodation for up to 3 people in 1 bedroom. It is a barn conversion with a wealth of exposed original wooden beams red brickwork. A window to the rear of this quaint little property overlooks the farm and stable yard complete with horses, chickens, ducks and cattle.
This reverse style property has a downstairs bedroom with both double and single beds and traditional patchwork style quilts. Upstairs is an open plan country kitchen, with oven and microwave, and lounge with log effect stove, mountain views and TV, DVD and Video are available.
Our Locationand Local Area
The small village of Bassenthwaite is 2 miles from the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake (the only official 'Lake' in the Lake District!) and 2 miles from the foot of Skiddaw, the 4th highest mountain in the Lake District. Bassenthwaite has several working farms and throughout the year animals can be seen in the fields around the village.
The Sun Inn pub serving bar meals is located in the heart of the village. A short walk or drive away is a small shop on a caravan park selling general supplies (open April to October).
The popular Lake District market town of Keswick, on the shores of Derwent Water, and Cockermouth, the town of William Wordsworth's family home, are only 15 minutes away. Nearby is the famous Osprey viewpoint and also Mirehouse Historic House and Gardens with adventure playground, and Trotters' World of Animals.
Bassenthwaite is an ideal location for exploring all of the Lake District and the Cumbrian countryside including the Solway Coast, the historic border city of Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall and the lovely Eden Valley.
There are regular bus services to Keswick, Cockermouth and Penrith (nearest train station) and infrequent services to Carlisle.
