Flookburgh is only a short walk away from Cark which has a train station, linking Flookburgh to all the Cumbrian Coastal towns as well as providing a direct link to Manchester Airport.
Within ten minutes drive is the pretty Edwardian Seaside town of Grange over Sands, which has stunning views across Morecambe Bay. Grange has a long promenade, a large selection of shops, banks and cafes, a tourist information office, ornamental gardens as well as links via bus to Kendal, Ulverston and the Lakes.
Flookburgh is situated on the Cartmel Peninsula about 2 miles south west of Cartmel. It is a short walk to the coast at Sandgate on the Leven Estuary, which has lovely views towards the lake district mountains. Close by is Humphrey Head, which is the highest cliff point on the coast until you get right round to St Bees. It is said that this is where the last wolf in England was found. There is a picture in the cottage which portrays this scene.
Just a mile away is Holker Hall, a large mansion, with deer park, beautiful gardens, gift shop, cafe, and car park with picnic facilities. The Hall and gardens are open to the public for most of the year.
