Welcome to Nut Tree Farm, our beautiful Somerset bed and breakfast. We offer peaceful and tranquil B&B accommodation in a 16th Century Farmhouse set in two acres of secluded peaceful semi-wild garden, orchard and woodland area in beautiful Somerset countryside. Our Somerset B & B is located in Stoughton Cross, just 1.25 miles from the attractive and historic village of Wedmore in the west country.

Our B&B has two Super King Double/Twin suites (beds: 6 feet - 183cm wide) with full en-suite bathroom facilities – Shower over Bath, Bidet, Toilet and Washbasin.

In addition we have one single bedroom with a 4 foot -120cm wide bed with Shower, Toilet and Basin.

All three bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities. Herb and Fruit Teas and Hot Chocolate are also available for your pleasure.

Breakfast is normally served from 7.30am until 9am, but other times can be arranged to suit your requirements.  We have one of the most extensive breakfast menus in the UK, providing an excellent Traditional English Breakfast as well as catering for Vegetarians, Vegans and Guests with Special Dietary requirements.

We very much understand these requirements as we have a Vegetarian and Vegan in our family and we eat wholefood as a matter of course. If you are on a special diet, please let us know well in advance so that we can ensure the right ingredients are in stock at the time of your stay. We will endeavour to cater for you to the best of our ability. There are also several local restaurants that will be only too pleased to oblige with advance notice.

Our South West England B & B Facilities

We have ample off-road car parking. A fax (out only), e-mail and photocopying service is offered. Broadband is available in the Farmhouse as a free service. Currently there is a wireless service to the Weeping Cherry Suite, Weeping Silver Birch en suite room, the lounge and the garden room. There is also an ethernet connection to the lounge and garden room.

Nut Tree Farm is a non-working farm and we therefore do not have any animals. Our bed and breakfast is also non-smoking.

The Grounds of our B and B in the West Country

Our rural bed and breakfast is set in two acres of beautiful garden with a few mature trees - Walnut, Ash, Field Maple, with Elm continually re-growing. Of smaller trees you will find Hawthorn, Blackthorn and Elder.  Over the last 23 years, we have also planted more than 250 trees including Apple, Pear, Plum, Mulberry, Ash, Oak, Elm, Poplar, Lime, Walnut, Ginkgo, Horse Chestnut, Damson, Gage, Cob, Hazel, Filbert, Wild Cherry (Gean), Bird Cherry, Morello Cherry, Flowering Cherries, Mountain Ash, Sorbus, Laburnum, various Withies (Willow), Silver Birch, Bay, Wisteria and Medlar. Walking amongst the trees gives the feeling of being away from it all.

The Local Area of Somerset and the South West of England

Our bed and breakfast is in Stoughton Cross, near Wedmore in Somerset. The village was a pilgrim stopover and still has a medieval stone cross and a holy well.  Wedmore is a vibrant village with something going on most evenings.  There are many eating places and pubs in this area  which serve a wide variety of dishes, normally catering for all the needs of our guests.  All of the pubs serve local real ales, bar and/or restaurant meals.

Nut Tree Farm B&B is located in an ideal holiday area in the west country. We are well situated for visits to Wells, the smallest City in Britain, with it's magnificent Cathedral and Bishop's Palace; Glastonbury is the ancient spiritual centre of Britain. Stanton Drew stone circle, which is en route to Bath, is just on the north side of the Mendip Hills. Taking the route through Cheddar Gorge is a delight. Ask us for directions.

 The famous Clarks Village & Shoe Museum, Longleat House & Safari Park are within easy reach. And now, of course, the recently opened amazing Tyntesfield House, which is about a half hour drive away. The Chapel is now open to the public and work in progress can be seen during visits.

Millfield and The Cathedral Schools are only 20 minutes away for parents wanting to visit their children, yet be away from the towns.

There are many beautiful and wild places to see, including Cheddar Gorge, Ebba Gorge, Mendip Hills, which are all easy to reach. The caves at Wookey Hole and Cheddar are well worth visiting, being famous for the quality of the caves, and for the cavers who train within.

At the Peat Moor Visitors Centre on the famous Somerset Levels you can see the oldest 'roads' in Britain and walk on replicas of these 6000 years old wooden track ways. There is also a 'replica' of a pre-historic round house, a working forge, a pole lathe, a museum and more.

The moors are of special interest to bird watchers and ideal for tranquil walks and cycle rides. Fishing is very popular over much of the moors. Seeing the starling flying formations at dust at one of the nature reserves is a real must.

Weston-Super-Mare, Brean, Berrow and Burnham-on-Sea are only 25 minutes away. Brean Down juts out into the sea and is a nature reserve of beauty, with great views across to Wales on a clear day and is the site of a ruined Napoleonic fort. It makes for a really good walk. Parking on the beaches is usually possible - plenty of sand dunes, and good for wind surfing and kite flying.

If you wish to travel further a field into parts of Devon, Dorset and Wiltshire they are so easy and quick to reach with the Motorway access being conveniently placed; only eight miles away, yet not of any hindrance to us. So we are also an ideal stopover for folk staying with us for a night or two en route to Devon and Cornwall, making their journey a much more relaxed affair.
