Kirkland Lodge (Sleeps 3 + Cot)
Kirkland Lodge is a small timber holiday cottage with big views. Facing west towards Loch Sween and the oak ridges beyond you can enjoy fantastic sunsets and the ever changing loch. A seal may swim by and a heron fishes patiently from the shore. Otters and osprey may also be seen. The east facing back garden is a private sun trap in the mornings. The shore is only 20 metres from your door.
The living room has a leather sofa and armchairs and you can enjoy the warmth from the log burning stove which is easy to light and control. There is a tv, dvd player and Sky plus. The mini hi-fi has an ipod dock. There are plenty of books and magazines to keep you entertained on rainy days.
The kitchen diner is well equipped with everything you need for a self catering break. The cooker has a gas hob and electric oven and there is also a combination microwave, oven and grill. There is a dishwasher so you won't have to spend too much time at the sink and there is also an automatic washing machine. An indoor pulley provides indoor drying up high in the peak of the double height ceiling.
The shower room has a large shower with glass screen, wash hand basin and wc. There is a heated towel rail and shaver socket with light.
The fantastic location makes this our most popular holiday home so early booking is advised. It offers privacy and seclusion but should you need assistance, we are only a mile and a half away.
Byre and Stable Cottages are situated in the heart of Knapdale Forest at the head of Loch Sween, a beautiful sea loch on the west coast of Argyll. The cottages are equipped to a high standard to provide a home from home for our visitors. Wireless broadband is available in both cottages. Seafield Farm Cottages are run in an environmentally friendly manner with a newly installed log fired boiler to provide heat and hot water from a central boiler house - we tend the boiler, you enjoy the warmth. The network of forest roads provides good walking and cycling. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty with abundant wildlife and wild flowers. Deer, seals, red sqirrels, osprey, otters, badgers, herons and buzzards can all be seen in the area. Beavers have been introduced to lochs near to Seafield in a five year trial. Nearby Kilmartin Glen has a wealth of archaeological sites and an award winning museum. The Crinan Canal is four miles from Seafield and is good for walking and watching the boats progress through the canal. Trout fishing by permit and boat hire is available on Loch Coille Bharr. Tayavallich, Crinan and Cairnbaan have bars and restaurants and Lochgilphead has a good range of shops, banks, coffee shops and pubs.
Byre Cottage (sleeps 4 + cot + bed settee)
Stable Cottage adjoins Byre Cottage and has south and west facing windows. It is many years since it housed the the farm horses. It is a good cottage for families as it has a bath as well as a shower and the large hall has lots of room for wellies, outdoor gear and pushchairs. There is a baby bath, stair gate and high chair for toddlers. It also has an automatic washing machine. You can hang washing and outdoor gear in the open barn opposite the cottage.
Byre Cottage is one half of the farm steading which until 1993 housed our cattle. The exterior is little changed but the interior has been transformed into a roomy, comfortable holiday home on two floors. The kitchen, living room, hall and bathroom are on the ground floor with two bedrooms upstairs. With leather sofas, a king size bed and 37" LCD tv, the cottage has a little more space, luxury and privacy than Stable Cottage making it perfect for romantic breaks It is also more private. The cottage is in a lovely location at the head of Loch Sween with excellent walks directly from your door.
