Welcome
Welcome to the South Barn cottages of Connetts Farm Holiday cottages, our wonderful self catering holiday accommodation on a working farm on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. We have 3 excellent self-catering cottages which sleep 4 people. Our family friendly holiday accommodation makes an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Kent countryside and the whole of the South East of England.
Our Kent Holiday Cottages
The cottages are located on our 115 acre working farm, in a beautiful coastal position giving cliff top views over the Thames Estuary. There are horses on the farm with hay and cereal crops being grown. There is also a small area of young woodland. Each year, some areas of the farm are left to grow wild for the benefit of wildlife.
South Barn Cottages (3 x 2 bedroom cottages)
In South Barn there are three holiday cottages. Each holiday cottage has a lounge with colour TV and digital receiver (digital reception may be affected by weather conditions) a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, a bathroom with hand basin, WC, bath & shower cubicle and two bedrooms. Bedroom 1 (Double) is situated on a gallery above the lounge & bedroom 2 (Twin) is situated through a door off of the gallery.
Each cottage sleeps 4 persons (+ extra child's bed + cot). South Barn is situated overlooking lawns, ponds and open fields.
Bed-linen, towels, heating, electricity & water are all included in the price of the cottage hire. Parking is available in an area adjacent to the cottages.
The Local Area
Our Kent Holiday cottages cottages are perfectly located for visits to London (50 miles), Canterbury (30 miles), Rochester (20 Miles) & Maidstone (20 miles), and there are good road links to the motorway system with a new bridge linking us to the mainland. There is also a mainline railway from Sittingbourne (10 miles) to the centre of London with a connecting line from Sheerness.
The nearest town to the cottages is Sheerness (6 miles) where there is a selection of shops & good supermarkets, an indoor swimming pool and sports complex. There is a beach at Sheerness, & a Naturist beach at Shellness (5 miles).
For bird watching, you may wish to visit the R.S.P.B. reserve at nearby Elmley where many species of birds may be seen, both common and rare. Among those found on the reserve are populations of Harriers, Golden Plover, Short-Eared Owls, Avocet, Egret, Heron, Green Plover and at dawn and dusk spectacular amounts of wildfowl.
Isle of Sheppey is a small island off the North Kent coast and is approximately 9 miles long by 5 miles wide. It is connected to the mainland by two bridges. There are traditional seaside towns on the island, such as Leysdown and Sheerness and there are the heritage towns of Queenborough and Blue Town which are rich in cultural heritage.
The long beach at the Lees, Minster is also very popular with visitors. Part of this beach is reserved for bathing and other parts are used by the many windsurfers that visit the island for the excellent conditions that are particularly suited to the sport of windsurfing. Fishing from this beach is also very good.
