On first impressions, The Red Lion at Stiffkey is a traditional Norfolk Pub in almost every sense of the word, from the rustic wooden pews and four log fires to the original stone floor and selection of local brews on offer. However, since the 1st May 2008, this popular refreshment stop for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers has seen the addition of 10 fabulous rooms, making it one of the most special places to stay near the North Norfolk Coast.
Modern, chalet-style rooms (5 on the ground floor with a small terrace and garden area outside and 5 on the first floor, each with a private balcony) offer luxurious hotel accommodation at a location that is perfect for discovering the entire North Norfolk region. Well-equipped with en-suite bathroom, high quality furnishings and details like flat-screen televisions, there are 6 King-Sized Double rooms, 3 Twin rooms and a Family Double room with sofa bed. There is WIFI Internet access in the adjacent pub (along with great food all day long and a refreshing pint or glass of something cold), but this will be accessible in the rooms shortly.
The first floor rooms have amazing views out over the Stiffkey valley and the hills beyond.
The accommodation building is eco friendly, with a sedum roof that not only ensures the rooms are warm in winter and naturally cool in summer, but also collects and recycles rainwater, using it to flush the toilets. All the rooms are ultra-insulated - there are no fewer than 14 layers of insulation between the ground floor rooms and the first floor rooms, ensuring total peace and privacy if you so desire it.
Room tariffs between £80 and £120 depending on room type, season and whether you want to include a delicious dinner. All room tariffs include a full English breakfast.
