Welcome to The Barn at Bombers, a top quality self catering accommodation for up to 6 people in a beautiful rural location which is within easy reach of central London. The Barn dates from the 16th century and is listed as being of historic and architectural interest.
Bombers lies within an area designated as an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty". The local countryside is traversed by numerous footpaths and trails which are open to the public, many of which offer spectacular views either to the South over open country, or to the North over the City of London.
Our Holiday Cottage Facilities
The Barn was converted in 2001 to provide accommodation of the highest standard. The original oak frame of the Barn has been retained, and there are oak floors and joinery throughout. All the rooms have plenty of natural light, and both lounges have large windows overlooking the open fields and ancient woodlands. Cars can be parked directly in front of the Barn.
On the ground floor is a Lounge with windows overlooking surrounding fields and an access door to private patio with table, chairs and gas barbecue. There is also the Master bedroom with king size bed (this can be split to form two single beds), a shower room with high pressure shower, a bathroom with bath and shower over. and a utility room. The entrance Hall and bathrooms have natural slate floors and an antique spiral staircase leads to the first floor.
The first floor is arranged as an L shaped open plan living and dining area and has an oak floor throughout. The ceiling is vaulted and the building's old oak frame is fully exposed. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and the dining area has a large table and six chairs. There are full height picture windows which provide beautiful views over the surrounding fields and woodland. There are also two bedrooms on this floor, each having two single beds.
Our Kent Location
Being situated on the North West side of Kent, Bombers is ideal for visiting the historic towns of this region such as Westerham, Penshurst, Sevenoaks, Greenwich, Chatham, Rochester and Tunbridge Wells. Some of the finest National Trust Properties in the country are also close by - Knole House, Penshurst Place, Chartwell, Ightham Mote, Eltham Palace, Sissinghurst and Hever are all within 30 minutes drive. The coastal attractions of towns such as Brighton, Rye and Eastbourne are little more than an hour's drive away, as is Canterbury.
For antique hunters, Westerham, Brasted, Brenchley and Tunbridge Wells offer some of the best shopping in the country. Local restaurants are excellent, offering French, Italian, Indian, Thai and Chinese food. Good food is also served in many of the local pubs. There are also many excellent golf courses in the area.
Bombers Farm is situated in open countryside on the North Downs and yet is only 14 miles due south of the City of London. Frequent fast trains provide access to central London in 20 minutes, so the location is ideally suited to those wishing to visit London as well as the counties of Kent and Sussex.
