The 18th century Shoulder Of Mutton Inn is set in the tiny, picturesque village of Kirby Hill. Surrounded by dramatic moorland and gentle dales, the Inn makes an ideal base from which to explore the magnificent North Yorkshire Dales National Park, the North York Moors National Park, the North Pennine Valleys and the East Yorkshire coastline. The village of Kirby Hill remains unspoilt by time and is very conveniently situated just four miles north of the historic market town of Richmond. A wealth of picturesque villages, castles and abbeys, country houses and gardens and endless natural beauty are on your doorstep just waiting to be discovered...
Accommodation, Bar and Restaurant
Open log fires burn in the bar areas, where guests may enjoy drinks and bar meals in a relaxing atmosphere, and in the restaurant, where exposed stone walls and original beams provide the perfect backdrop for enjoying our renowned home cooking. Why not try one of our traditional dishes, cooked to perfection by an experienced chef. Alternatively you may wish to try something a little more exotic from our specials board. Hand-pulled cask ales, a selection of malt whiskies and a comprehensive wine list are also available in warm and friendly surroundings. The Inn offers traditional accommodation with Full English Breakfast for as little as £35 Single or £49 Double per night. Our comfortable accommodation comprises four double rooms and one family room, all with en-suite facilities, colour televisions and tea/coffee trays. For added comfort the Inn is centrally heated throughout. For added convenience the Inn has a large car park.
Directions Coming from the North:
Take the A1(M) and continue onto the A1. At the Scotch Corner roundabout turn right onto the A66 towards Brough. After approximately 5 miles (7.5 km) take the left turn signposted "Ravensworth / Kirby Hill". Go straight on through Ravensworth and after about a mile (1.5 km) take a sharp right turn, signposted "Kirby Hill". This road will take you straight to the inn (0.5 miles / 0.8 km). Coming from the South: Take the A1. At the Scotch Corner roundabout turn left onto the A66 towards Brough. After approximately 5 miles (7.5 km) take the left turn signposted "Ravensworth / Kirby Hill". Go straight on through Ravensworth and after about a mile (1.5 km) take a sharp right turn, signposted "Kirby Hill". This road will take you straight to the inn (0.5 miles / 0.8 km). Coming from the West: Take the A66 towards Brough and Scotch Corner. Approximately 23 miles (37 km) after Brough (or 4 miles / 7 km after Greta Bridge) take the right turn signposted "Ravensworth / Kirby Hill". Go straight on through Ravensworth and after about a mile (1.5 km) take a sharp right turn, signposted "Kirby Hill". This road will take you straight to the inn (0.5 miles / 0.8 km).
