Welcome to our Luxury B&B in the Lake District
For lovers of tranquility, as well as the beauty of the English Lake District, a holiday base amongst the quieter Northern Fells is now regarded by many as essential. Thornthwaite is peaceful and scenic, away from the busy and crowded areas, yet within easy access of the Central and Southern lakes . . .
Thwaite Howe - a country house built of local stone in the 1860s, is situated in its own attractive grounds of one acre. Thornthwaite Forest provides a stunning backdrop to the rear, and the house stands in an elevated position looking across the Derwent Valley to the magnificent mountain views of Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn.
A hearty Cumbrian Breakfast can be enjoyed in our comfortable restaurant which enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding Lakeland Fells. Come and watch our red squirrels, and numerous birds enjoy their breakfast while you are enjoying yours!
The house is centrally heated throughout, there is an efficient drying room, and in inclement weather you will find a fire blazing in the lounge.
All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, colour television, radio, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers and radiator thermostats to control the room temperature.
