Our Teignmouth, Devon Location
Along the length of the seaward edge of town is the historical 'Den,’ a huge open space with lawns and flower beds, a fantastic huge play area for children of all ages, it includes a water park in peak season, where children jump on the ground pumps to produce various springs of water (Parentals Tip - take towel and change of clothing).
There is also tennis courts and adventure golf. Adjacent to this, is the historical elegant promenade for strolling and taking in the sea air, (also a favoured spot for our 3 year old to ride his trike.) We strongly suggest you stop at the Pier for a wonderful Devonshire ice cream.
The new scooter and skateboard park on the promenade is a huge success for all ages so take your scooters.
The sandy beaches have won many awards over the years and are patrolled by lifeguards on certain areas at peak times- (look for information at the life guard station on the promenade for exact details)
Teignmouth also has a popular theatre, a huge choice of cafes and restaurants and lots of shops to suit everyone. We highly recommend the four winds restaurant where you will get excellent food (in huge quantities) and the service is likewise - Tell Nick the proprietor that Adrian and Annya sent you). Also Al Fresco italian which is top class. SE4 cafe has great food and the service to match
Should the weather not be favourable, the Pier is a great distraction for children and adults both, great rides and games. The national park is perfect for a relaxing walk and enjoying the natural beauty of Devon.
The estuary side (or River Beach as it is called by the locals) is a beautiful part of this town. Watching the sunset over the moored boats with Shaldon in the distance overlooking the river is unforgettable. The River Beach has a selection of Inns with outdoor seating where you can enjoy a glass of wine watching the sun set.
Teignmouth has an excellent train station and options for daytrips are numerous: Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts, Torquay, Torbay, Dawlish, Exeter, Plymouth and several children's adventure parks. Other activities available in the surrounding areas include a wide selection of water sports, golf , sailing, horseriding, cycling, boat trips and even helicopter trips. Teignmouth is the ideal holiday location, offering options for everybody.
