TYNRON is a quaint conservation hamlet near the traditional characterful village of Moniaive in beautiful South West Scotland. Known locally as "Little Ireland", Tynron nestles in one of the lovely valleys of the foothills of the Southern Uplands, on the banks of the Shinnel river. There are wonderful views of the Lowther Hills to be had as the road winds down into the village. Once there you can enjoy the great walking in the area, right from the doorstep of the cottage, without having to drive anywhere. However, driving is a pleasure in the South West, as the small country roads are very quiet and there are many stunning views and places of interest to be seen nearby. The South West of Scotland is an undiscovered jewel and Dumfriesshire is famous for its connections with Scotland's National Bard, the poet Robert Burns, who lived much of his life in Dumfries town and surrounding countryside. Dumfries is a fine county town and has all the facilities you will need for a great family holdiday - swimming pool, ice rink, parks, riverside, museum, shops, supermarkets etc. There are plenty of other activities to be found in the local area eg horse-riding, mountain biking, adventure playground, arts & crafts, independent shops, market towns, historical sites, etc.
THE COTTAGE is situated in a pretty row guarded by the old Kirk above, and has a large garden which goes down to the banks of the river. It is a south facing house and therefore very light and sunny, with higher ceilings than you'd expect in a cottage giving a spacious feel, and lovely views of the garden and countryside beyond. It is furnished in a cosy style, with quirky touches like the hallway papered with old sheet music. You will find everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, including books, games, CD player, Freeview TV and 2 DVD players.
THE ACCOMMODATION comfortably sleeps 4 in a twin and a double room, and there is a sofa bed in the living/dining room if necessary for 2 extra guests. The twin room also has a large sofa which will sleep another person. so can accommodate 7 in all. The house is fully centrally heated throughout with an open fire in the living room and a wood burner in the double bedroom for extra warmth! The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer. There is a pretty back yard off the kitchen which gets the morning sun, with a seating area and pull out washing line.
