Welcome to our self catering cottages in Monmouthshire, Wales
Three well equipped self catering units in converted old stone buildings of Welsh Longhouse, including Byre Cottage which is specially designed for the wheelchair user.
Lower Granary
The Upper Granary is approached up the old granary steps (there is a handrail and a nightlight), and from its elevated position enjoys the best views over the valley towards the Black Mountains.
The Lower granery comprises of a spacious living area, with a three seater sofa which converts to a double bed, open plan kitchen with a dining area adjacent.
The bedroom has twin beds, and the shower room with handbasin and the toilet is off the bedroom.
In the living area there are french windows which open onto Cwrt-y-Gaer's broad lawn, which is surrounded by the majestic trees of the old moated fort, with views over the distant rolling hills. A bridge over the moat leads to pastureland and the woods.
Upper Granary
The Upper Granary also enjoys the best views over the valley towards the Black Mountains. The cottage has a airy living room has exposed beams and kitchen section with adjacent dining area. The living area has a three seater sofa converts into a double bed when required.The bedroom has twin beds, with the shower room with toilet.
Like Lower Granary the steps lead back to the lawn with access to the pasture land an woods.
The shared utility room has an automatic washing machine, tumble drier and ironing facilities. In the barn there is a mini snooker/pool table and a table tennis table.
Byre Cottage
Byre Cottage is level throughout with wide doorways and ample turning space. It is approached with a ramp from the covered carport onto an attractive patio with table and bench seat. It has been designed for the special needs of disabled people.
The bedroom has two single beds, with the shower room adjacent. There is an electronic shower with a seat and there are grab rails around the shower, hand basin and toilet.. The open plan living area has a three seater sofa which converts to a double bed when required. The kitchen area has work surfaces as well as special pull out low level work areas.
Location
Our cottages are located near the small village of Wolvesnewton in Monmouthshire, South East Wales. Just a short drive away are attractions in towns such as Chepstow, Caldicot, Caerphilly, Penhow and Cardiff. There is an excellent choice of food in the pubs and restaurants. Many visitors enjoy walking in the woods around Cwrt-y-Gaer and on the many well-signed footpaths in the area, as well as in the forestry land or beside the Rivers Wye and Usk, or in the Welsh Mountains.
