Welcome to Warren Bank Cottage, our 5 star pet friendly holiday cottage. The cottage provides self catering holiday accommodation for 4 people with room for 1 extra child. The cottage is on the edge of Brampton, in Cumbria, making it the ideal holiday base for the Lake District, Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Families, children and dogs are welcome at our Cumbria and Northumberland cottage.
A warm welcome awaits all those who come and stay in our delightful holiday cottage. Enjoying a peaceful residential setting on the edge of Brampton, Warren Bank sits quietly within its own pretty garden where visiting birds and wildlife come and go as they please; a short leisurely walk will take you to the centre of this old historic market town passing wooded walks along the way.
The cottage nestles in the Borderlands of England's beautiful North Country, making the Cottage well placed for all to venture forth and discover the many sights and pleasures to be found in this land of myth and romantic legend.
The Cottage
Downstairs there is a sitting room, dining room and kitchen, while upstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom. Each room enjoys smoke-free surroundings and one pet dog is welcome.
Inside you will find everything you need for a comfortable and carefree stay. With the traditional charm of open fires complemented by the modern comforts of central heating and instant hot water, you can be sure of warm and cosy accommodation at any time of year.
For children, a cot (including linen if you wish) and highchair are available and for your dog there are feeding bowls, towels and a bed can be provided if required.
On arrival, you will find a selection of groceries in the pantry, while around the Cottage is an assortment of accessories for both personal and practical use and when you have unpacked and settled in, you can relax with glass or two of wine.
The entrance porch leads into the dining room. On the well stocked bookshelf there is a good selection of reading including maps, guides, local information, magazines and novels; and for those stay-at-home days, games, puzzles and videos. From the dining room, a gently winding staircase with handrails on either side leads to the bedrooms and bathroom.
The sitting room is a delightful room with an open fire and two comfortable sofas, a television, video, music and books - the perfect place to relax after a busy day.
Overlooking the garden, the kitchen is exceptionally well appointed with a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster and sandwich toaster. You will also find cookery books, baking utensils and kitchen linens together with an assortment of useful items, cleaning aids and laundry equipment.
In the bedrooms, you will find fresh soft linen on comfortable divan beds; hairdryers, radios, magazines and books. The family bathroom has an excellent shower, shaver point and airing cupboard with plenty of towels and a selection of toiletries, bathroom requisites and medicinal remedies.
The cottage garden is peaceful, sheltered and sunny, with a barbecue for dining al fresco, the cottage garden is a delightful place to relax on a warm summer's day. The main part of the garden is enclosed by a high stone wall, panelled fencing and a low picket fence and gate. A parking bay in a further open area of garden provides space for one car and a second vehicle can be parked on the road directly in front of the Cottage.
The Local Area
The holiday cottage is on the edge of Brampton, which is situated 10 miles east of the Border City of Carlisle and lies between the National Parks of Northumberland and the Lake District, and below the Scottish Borders. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and historical heritage, there is a wealth of fascinating places to visit and explore.
With opportunities to visit castles, priories and museums, stately homes and gardens, several of which are owned by the National Trust and English Heritage, you will be spoilt for choice as to what to do. The area is ideal for walkers and a haven for wildlife and birdwatchers. Golf, fishing, horse riding, mountain biking, cycling and watersports are just a few of the many outdoor pursuits nearby. Music festivals, concerts and theatre can be enjoyed too. The Tourist Information Office is very helpful and will provide you with a calendar of "What's On".
Just 2 miles from the cottage door is Hadrian's Wall and within 7 miles is Birdoswald Roman Fort; in a spectacular location, it is one of the most picturesque and finest preserved Forts along the Wall. Within an hour's drive is the magnificent forest and lakeside surroundings of Kielder Water where stunning scenery, forest glades, a myriad of wildlife and a host of leisure activities await.
Discover the picturesque towns and villages in the Eden Valley and North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From Alston (18 miles) enjoy a journey on England's highest narrow-gauge railway through the beautiful scenery of the South Tyne Valley. The market town of Penrith (21 miles) is well worth a visit and within a few miles of here, a pleasant day can be spent on and around Ullswater.
If you plan a day out North of the Border in Scotland, don't forget to visit the Famous Old Blacksmith's Shop and Village Centre at Gretna Green (16 miles) on the way. Both Newcastle and Carlisle offer a marvellous experience for the visitor. Excellent train and bus services between these lively cities call at Brampton and Hexham (27 miles) throughout the day.
