A warm welcome awaits at our newly refurbished home on the edge of the village of Woodnewton, incorporating the Willowbrook river at the bottom of the garden, along with a cup of tea and an opportunity to view the stunning countryside from the welcoming kitchen dining room (conservatory being built as we speak!).
Our four star luxury bed and breakfast has 4 guest bedrooms, one double, two twins rooms and a single room, providing overall guest house accommodation for 8 people, with one of the twin rooms able to accommodate an extra single bed to make a family room.
After an early evening sit down or shower, you can try one of our lovely village pubs and restaurants that are in every surrounding village to Woodnewton – The White Swan is 5 minutes walk up the road to the local Woodnewton pub, The Falcon at Fotheringhay is 2 miles towards Oundle and The Shuckborough is in the village of Southwick, also only 2 miles away – something for everyone! Even a fantastic coffee house in Oundle known as “BEANS” – well known to all the local fraternity, situated in the centre of Oundle for somewhere to put your feet up after a long walk.
In the morning you will be woken to the smell of a traditional Northamptonshire breakfast – anything of your choice really – usually a Full English Breakfast – made with the finest local ingredients. Eggs from the Farm Shop in Bulwick, bacon and sausages from our local butcher – Moulds of Nassington, and local preserves from the Oundle Farmers Market
If you are here to relax, then it is time to explore what East Northamptonshire and South West Lincolnshire has to offer. This is wonderful walking and cycling country – either from our own front door or by car to very well known “off the beaten track” walks and cycling paths – not to mention being only a 25 minute drive to Rutland Water – well known for its amazing wild life, Bird Fair, sailing, cycling, walking and just admiring the view. Guide Books and maps are available to borrow at any time.
If you are here to work – Peterborough City is only a 10 minute drive and the main train station connects to the whole of the country easily – only 48 minutes to King’s Cross, London. The beautiful historic town of Stamford in Lincolnshire is only 8 miles up the A1 – somewhere to spend a whole day wondering around – take in the beauty of the Burghley House and all its surrounding gardens (home to the famous Horse Trials in September), Oundle is only 4 miles to the south – home to the well known private Oundle School and of course Oakham and Uppingham are both within easy driving distance.
Off the beaten track, explore miles of footpaths, cycle route and bridleways and discover hidden hamlets and ancient churches. The peaceful countryside embraces exquisite country houses, wonderful gardens and countless historic curiosities. An excellent selection of guidebooks, leaflets and maps are available upon request or from the Oundle Tourist Information Centre.
