The property was originally built in the 19th century as a coach house and stables for the local landowner and still retains a personal and homely feel. With fabulous views overlooking Kilnaughton Bay and its lighthouse, the house is just a five minute walk from a sandy beach.
The village of Port Ellen is approximately 1 mile from the house; perfect walking or cycling distance, where you'll find the local shops, pubs and a kid's community centre and internet cafe.
Available for rent all the year round, Cairn Cottage is well equipped and ideally suited for families and large groups, sleeping up to 11. Pets are permitted by prior agreement.
From the enclosed south facing front garden and all front facing windows is the magnificent view over Kilnaughton Bay. The rear of the property has hard standing for 3-4 cars with a secluded lawn area, beyond which is a wooded area within the property's boundary.
Cairn Cottage is located on the southern side of the island, 5 minutes drive from Port Ellen, 10 minutes from Islay Airport and 25 minutes from Bowmore. If you're lucky and you catch the Port Ellen ferry, then you'll be inside the house within 10 minutes with your feet up admiring the views.
